Section E: Recruitment Initiatives

During the past 12 months, the station engaged in the following recruitment initiatives. The number indicates the FCC’s “Prong Three” Menu Option:

  1. Establishment of an internship program designed to provide skills needed for broadcast employment: Raven Radio provided a seven and two month internship for a young person to train in news reporting, writing, production and hosting. The interns produced stories for local, regional and statewide broadcast. The station provides a stipend for the interns selected for the program.

  1. Listing of each upper-level category opening in a job bank or newsletter of media trade groups whose membership includes substantial participation of women and minorities. Listings were made with The Alaska Native Brotherhood and the Sitka Tribe of Alaska.

  1. Broadcast of “Careers in Broadcasting” PSA’s produced by the Alaska Broadcaster’s Association designed to meet FCC EEO requirements. PSA’s are broadcast throughout the year.
